SOLDERING
If new to soldering, its not that difficult. Buy a decent Antex iron for £15. Just make sure the iron is properley tinned, ie melt solder on to it it should stay on and turn silver without this heat wont transfer to the component. Use a wet sponge to clean tip. Apply heat and enough solder to cover the entire jointit should run all over the joint remove heat quickly dont move it. it should be a bright silver colour, if it is dull it's not a good joint heat and add more solder. If all else fails We can build them for you complete with push on driver conectors and silver wire for £35.00
TIPS FOR DIY IPL SPEAKER KIT BUILDERS
I built my first pair and want anybody who tries DIY to produce a decent finish these speaker deserve.
MAIN DRIVER ALIGNMENT
The hole for the driver is larger than the driver to accomodate the terminals and wire which you will need to pull out the front in order to solder. So when drilling the hole for the pull in bolts its important to get the driver in the middle of the hole or the mounting hole will be to near the edge.
ROUTER A SMALL V IN JOIN IF PAINTING
If you itend to paint your speaker you need to hide the join. A small V routered into the join is easy fillable with dry wall jointing compund seal this prior to filling with clear MDF primer. This will stop the join between the two panels showing through. Believe me it will show unless you do this.
